Design Visualisation
Bucks Students learn to use a whole range of software to help develop their ideas and present their finished designs.
The image on the left is a concept for a Coffee house designed by Beth Alexander. The image on the right is a first year project created by Olinda Chaves Sandes. This was her first attempt at reproducing an existing space in 3D to develop her skills.
We'll show you more examples of what our students are working on in future posts.

Interior and Spatial Design student wins award from industry partner
A
BA (Hons) Interior and Spatial Design student at Buckinghamshire New
University has won a prize for his work from office design and build
specialist, space-pod.
Tim
Matthews was presented with a winning certificate and cheque by Fi
Mathieson of space-pod at the University's Art & Design
Show for his design concept for an 'Island on the Thames'.
Fi
Mathieson said: "We were particularly impressed with Tim's
concept for an Island on the Thames - he embraced multi-disciplinary
spatial design practices to integrate architecture, landscape design,
and service design."
"Space-pod
supports the BA (Hons) Interior and Spatial Design degree due to its
focus on both the theory and practice of design."
Tim
Matthews said: "I am extremely proud that all of my hard work
has been recognised by such a well-respected company."
Space-pod
has a showroom in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire, and second-year BA
(Hons) Interior and Spatial Design students enjoy work-experience
opportunities with the company.
Tim's
classmate Anna-Lee Laferlla, a previous winner of the space-pod Prize
for Spatial Design, is joining the firm as a Junior Designer after
impressing during an internship in the second year of her course and
being sponsored by space-pod in her third year.

Buckinghamshire New University
BA (Hons) Interior and Spatial Design
We prepare you for a career in the exciting world of contemporary Interior and Spatial Design. Engaging with unique and dynamic design projects, you’ll learn how to transform existing spaces and create new ones.
You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of buildings and sites as you develop as a versatile designer. We look for creative thinkers who respond to the challenges of working within the local community, in London, nationally and internationally.
You will learn how to successfully complete all aspects of design projects from initial site visits and client briefings through to final presentations. We will teach you studio and workshop based model-making skills using our laser cutting and 3D prototyping equipment. You’ll be taught drawing and CAD visualisation techniques using AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max, Rhino and Photoshop, so that you can present your work with confidence.
We introduce historical and contextual studies of Interior and Spatial Design so that you understand the relationship between design theory and practice. You’ll also analyse the material qualities of spaces so that you can specify fixtures and fittings.
Through group reviews of work and presentations to clients, you will develop your communication skills to a professional standard and learn to work as part of a design team. Developing as a multi-disciplinary designer, you focus on a particular area of Interior and Spatial Design during your final project in your third year of the course.
Recently, students from the course have worked on projects with Bouygues Development, Murray Chalmers Music PR, the Victoria and Albert Museum, The Showroom London, Space-pod Bourne End and Pentagram London. Our students display their work in local galleries and practices as well as at venues and events in London such as the Victoria and Albert Museum and at New Designers. We also offer you the opportunity to travel to New York and Amsterdam for study tours.
